Summer is almost over
It's almost the end of summer again. Back to school sales are being advertised and everyone is rushing around the school like crazy. It's almost as if the start of school is a big surpise to everyone.
I was able to spend a very relaxing month home with my parents. I drove home this year, a nearly 1,400 mile journey. I did it in two days, driving seventeen hours straight on the second day. My father was ill and my mom wanted me home. Luckily, he has recovered as well as can be expected, and it was good to see my parents and the rest of my family.
Before I left for home I attended the Houston Gay Pride Parade. It was my first pride parade ever and it was a lot of fun. The participants in the parade were pretty restrained, at least by New York and San Francisco standards, and many people brought their kids and families. The parade is held at night, so the floats were brilliantly lighted (leave it to the gays when it comes to lighting), and the air was cool, which is, of course, why they have it at night. My favorite part of the parade was when the Asian and Friends Group marched by as Chinese Take-out boxes.
